What’s interaction design?

Interaction design meaning is to design interactive products and services in a way that designing focus is not just on the product but also on how the users interact with the product. A wide range of products such as mobile, web based and products in gaming, transportation, education, banking, healthcare, retail and other domains undergo interaction design process.

Hence, interaction design techniques are used to address diverse target audiences in different spheres.

What you learn in interaction design programs?

Interaction design syllabus includes interaction design theory, interaction design principles and its process. Students get familiar with interaction design trends and study interaction design topics such as drawing, image making and representation, photo communication, design elements, life drawing, modern information systems, semantics and communication theory, human factors in interaction design, product detailing, animation, typography, photography, information graphics, story and illustration, digital video communication and so on.

Besides various interaction design tools, studies of human computer interaction, visual culture, ergonomics and other such subjects are also taught. 

What interaction design courses can you do?

You can choose to do B.Des, B.Sc, BA(Honors), Diploma, certificate courses in interaction design. Options in interaction design masters include M.Des, M.Sc and MA. Some colleges also offer BFA and MFA in interaction Design.

Careers in interaction design are Information Architect (IA), Interaction Designer (IxD), User Experience (UX) Designer, User Interface (UI) Designer, Mobile Designer, Web Designer, content strategist, creative director, creative technologist, lead designer, designer/developer (front end or back end), exhibition designer, design strategist, producer, service designer, social media expert and so on.
